Mukteshwar is a small town and beautiful tourist place and hill station in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. In the Kumaon hills of Uttarakhand, it is situated at the height of 2286 meters (7500 feet) from the sea level.
Mukteshwar gets its name from a 350 yrs old temple of Lord Shiva, which is known as “Mukteshwar Dham”, situated at the highest point in the town. You can watch the snow capped mountain range of Himalaya from the temple. Mukteshwar was developed by Britishers in 1893 as an educational institute (IVRI) Indian Veterinary Research Institute. - By Air: The nearest airport is Pant Nagar and you can take a flight from Delhi to Pantnagar easily to reach Mukteshwar.
- By Train: The nearest railway station is Kathgodam which is around 65 kms from the town. You can take a taxi from here to reach Mukteshwar. Mukteshwar is well connected with all the neighbouring towns, it’s just 51 kms away from Nainital and 42 kms from Haldwani.
- By Road: The distance from Delhi to Mukteshwar is around 350 kms, which is around 7-8 hours if you are traveling by your own vehicle. You can reach Mukteshwar from Delhi via Hapur-Moradabad-Rudrapur-Kathgodam-Bhimtal.
